Marathon-Timer uses your Twitch account: click Sign in with Twitch, then authorise the application. We never see your password, and you can revoke the authorisation from Twitch at any time.
That first sign-in creates your timer, and Twitch starts telling us about your subs, gifted subs, re-subs, bits and the start and end of your streams. There is nothing to install.
A brand new account starts at 00:00:00, and every event is worth 0 seconds until you set your own values. That is exactly what the next two steps are for.
Choose the starting time
This is the duration shown when your subathon begins, before the first sub.
- In the menu, open Set Timer.
- In the Timer start time card, enter hours, minutes and seconds, 6 hours for example.
- Click 💾 Save timer.
As long as your subathon has not started, that duration is applied right away: the timer and your overlay show the new value.
Once the subathon is running, changing it no longer wipes the time you have earned. The new duration will be used for your next subathon, or as soon as you reset the timer.
Set how much time each event adds
This is your rate card: how many seconds a sub, a bit, a donation or a raid is worth.
- In the menu, open Time Settings.
- Fill in the events you care about, 300 seconds for a Tier 1 subscription for example.
- Click Save settings.
Leave anything you do not want to count at 0: the event is still recorded in your history, it simply adds no time.
Start the timer
On the Dashboard, the Start timer button in the top right starts the countdown. The same button pauses it, for a night's sleep for instance.
While it is paused, events keep adding time: the counter just stops going down.
If you would rather not click anything, tick Auto start/stop with stream: the timer then follows the start and the end of your Twitch stream.
Show the timer on your stream
The timer goes into OBS as a browser source, using the link from Timer Widget. The full walkthrough, with the right settings, is in the Add the timer to OBS guide.
Fix the time by hand
A donation that came in off-platform, a missed event, a rate card mistake: the Add Time page covers all of it.
- Quick add: buttons for the most common durations.
- Custom amount: a number of seconds, negative to take time away.
- Set current time: replaces the remaining time with the exact value you choose, whether the timer is running or paused.
Set limits
These settings are optional: without them, your subathon ends only when it reaches zero.
- Max time, on the dashboard: the remaining time never goes above this ceiling, in hours. At
0there is no ceiling. - Timer end date, in Set Timer: nothing can push the subathon past that date, and it ends on that date, even while paused.
- Time remaining from which events no longer add time: below that threshold, subs and donations are still recorded but add nothing. The final countdown can no longer be extended. You can still add time by hand.
- Timer start date: nothing before that date counts in your goals or your statistics, and a stream that goes live before it does not trigger the automatic start. Handy for testing without polluting your counters.
Start over
Two buttons at the bottom of the dashboard, for two different needs.
- Reset timer puts the time back to your starting duration and stops the countdown. Your event history is untouched.
- New subathon does the same, then archives the session: your statistics and your goals count from now on.
Before the real launch, do a rehearsal: add a minute by hand, check that it shows up in OBS, then reset the timer.
