⏱️ Subathon timer

Subathon Timer

A subathon timer is a countdown your community keeps alive: every subscription, gifted sub, cheer and donation adds time to the clock, and you stay live until it reaches zero. Marathon-Timer runs that clock for you — connected to your platforms, displayed in OBS, updated the second an event lands.

Free — no subscription, no commission on your subs or donations.

How a subathon timer works

You set a starting time and a rate card — how many seconds each event is worth. From there the timer runs on its own: Marathon-Timer listens to your subs, bits, memberships, Super Chats and donations, converts each one into time, and pushes the new value to your overlay in real time. No bot in your chat, nothing to refresh.

Everything else is yours to tune: a maximum cap so the stream cannot run away, a different value per sub tier, a pause while you sleep, and a public page your viewers can open to watch the clock without watching the stream.

Works with your platforms

Subs and events are read straight from the platforms you connect, and donations from the services you already use. Pick yours to see how it is set up.

🎨

Make it look like your channel

Fifteen ready-made themes, and past them everything is yours: your own font uploaded from your machine, your colours, your sizes and spacing, your own CSS if you want to go further. The timer should look like it was built for your overlay, not like a widget dropped on top of it.

🎯

Sub and donation goals

Next to the countdown you can build goal boards — "100 subs = emote reveal" — resetting daily, weekly, monthly or for the whole subathon. Each one gets its own overlay with a bar that fills as your community delivers, plus a public page you can paste in chat so viewers follow the goals without asking you where you are.

Frequently asked questions

Is this subathon timer really free?

Yes. Marathon-Timer is free, with no premium tier, no subscription and no commission on your subs or donations. You can support the project on Ko-fi if you want to, but nothing is locked behind it.

How do I add the timer to OBS?

You get a personal overlay link. In OBS, add a Browser source, paste the link and set it to 800x200. The timer appears transparent over your scene and updates in real time, with no plugin to install.

How much time should each sub add?

A common starting point is 5 minutes for a Tier 1 sub, 10 for Tier 2, 25 for Tier 3, 1 minute per 100 bits and 1 minute per unit of currency donated. Adapt it to the size of your channel, and start low: raising the rate mid-stream feels like a gift, lowering it feels like a punishment.

Free, and staying that way

Marathon-Timer has no premium tier, no subscription and takes no commission — and that is not going to change. The servers come out of my own pocket, so if the tool earns its place in your setup, a coffee on Ko-fi helps keep it running for everyone.
